This will be the last meaningful game played between these two rivals as Texas A&M will be leaving the Big 12 conference for the SEC. And since Texas won the first meeting 61-51 in Austin, the Aggies of Texas A&M are quite focused on handing their rival a loss in this game tonight. In that first meeting, Texas’ offense was held to just 41 field-goal attempts as the Aggies’ suffocating defense played a tremendous game on the road in a hostile environment. Texas was bailed by the whistle as they shot 31 free throws in that game to just 16 free throw attempts for Texas A&M. The Longhorns are an extremely young team that plays 6 freshman so we expect Texas’ offense to struggle once again to score and we do not anticipate a big free throw shooting discrepancy in their favor either. Texas A&M comes into tonight’s game off back-to-back losses with one of those being a 63-60 home loss to Baylor. The Aggies have played terrific basketball at home this season (11-3), especially on the defensive end of the floor. Texas A&M is holding their opponents to just 56 points per game on 37% shooting from the field and 25.1% from three-point land. Texas has struggled on the road in conference play as the Longhorns are 0-4 SU despite playing worse defensive teams than they’ll face tonight.
